The Breville company is well-known for building kitchen appliances that look good and last. Their juicers are no exception and every model they have produced has received high ratings.

The problem is that there are 7 great different models to choose from, so how do you know which one to choose? Well rest assured, that you won't go far wrong whichever you buy, but there may be qualities to a particular model that are a little more attuned to your juicing needs.

So we will compare Breville juicers and break them down one by one so you can hone in on the right one for you.

First things first, it's important to understand that the Breville juicers are all a specific style of juicer called a centrifugal juicer. If you are not familiar with the term 'centrifugal juicer', then check out our explanation of this and other types of juicers in our other guide - "What Is The Best Juicer Machine For You?". With that understanding under our belt, we can begin by breaking down the 7 Breville models available into 3 different groups:

  1. Standard Juicing Machines
  2. Citrus Juicer
  3. Duo Function Machines (they blend/puree and juice)

Standard Juicing Machines

Juice Your Fruits and Veggies

For those of us looking for a Breville juicer, one of the 4 standard juicing machines that they offer is most likely what we need. These 4 models are the:

  • BJE200XL Juice Fountain Compact
  • JE98XL Juice Fountain Plus
  • BJE510XL Juice Fountain Multi-Speed
  • 800JEXL Juice Fountain Elite

All 4 of these machines are very similar: they all have high-powered motors that produce high RPMs to make easy juicing of all fruits and vegetables, they are all built with endurance and strength in mind to house these powerful motors, and they all look good!

However, they each have a unique characteristic, or 2, that sets them apart. So let's look at what each one offers that the others don't, starting with the Breville BJE200XL Juice Fountain Compact

Breville BJE200XL Juice Fountain Compact

The Compact Option

Breville BJE200XL Juice Fountain
The Compact Option - The Breville BJE200

The Juice Compact Fountain is, as one would expect from its name, the most compact model - designed to save space.

It is one of the best juicers for the money too. It is now available for $99.95 at Amazon, and is one of the most reviewed juicers of all, with over 11,000 reviews. So besides its space-saving design, the other main benefit of this juice machine is its excellent price - it is the cheapest of the Breville juicers, but its quality still stands high and above that of many competing centrifugal brands.

A closer look at its space-saving design: the Juice Fountain Compact is truly a powerhouse in a small frame - Measures 9-1/2 by 8-3/4 by 16 inches. That is about half the height, and 1/3 of the girth, of the next size up model 'the JE95XL Juice Fountain Plus' which comes in at 18.2 x 13.2 x 10.2 inches

To save this much space, the Breville company the smart move with this machine to have the pulp collected at the foot of the machine, as opposed to needing a separate pulp collector jug that would take up more space.

Other qualities:

  • 700-Watt Motor that produces 14,000 RPM
  • Makes 8oz of juice in just 5 seconds
  • Pulp Capacity - 1.6 qt
  • Juice Jug Capacity - 25oz

JE98XL Juice Fountain Plus

The 2-Speed Juicer

JE98XL Juice Fountain Plus
The 2-Speed Juicer - The JE98XL Juice Fountain Plus

For those who want a little more capacity and control than the highest quality budget juicer the Breville BJE200XL, the Breville JEXL Juice Fountain Plus provides just that.

By capacity, we are referring to the amount of pulp the machine can hold before you have to stop juicing to clean it out, and the amount of juice that the juicing jug can contain.

For those not restricted by space, and are looking to buy a first great juicer, then this is the one, costing a bit more than the Juice Fountain Compact at $179.99 (at the time of writing).

Besides capacity, the other great feature of this machine is that it offers a 2-speed control for juicing.

A closer look at the two-speed control: The JE98XL can juice at a very high speed and power of 12,000 RPM. This is perfect for grinding down hard veggies like beets, potatoes, carrots, and even fruits with tough skins like pineapples, should you want to juice the skin also.

However, this power is overkill for soft fruits like berries, peaches, pears, etc. So, using the 2-speed control you can flip the switch to the half-speed setting to produce 6,500 RPM. This helps draw a higher juice yield from these softer fruits than from the high setting. This speed control is the one thing lacking in the BJE200XL.

Other qualities:

  • 850-Watt Motor that produces 12,000 RPM or 6,500 RPM
  • 3.3" feed chute
  • Pulp Capacity - 2.6 qt
  • Juice Jug Capacity - 1.1 gt

Breville BJE510XL Juice Fountain Multi-Speed

Get Extra Control With This Multi-Speed Smart Juicer

Breville BJE510XL
The Multi-Speed Option - The Breville BJE510XL

*This Juicer has been discontinued, but we will keep it on this list for information purposes.

Also going by the name 'Breville BJE510XL Ikon 900-Watt Variable-Speed Juice Extractor', the 'Breville BJE510XL Juice Fountain Multi-Speed' provides 5-speed variables for a greater range of control. This is the only Breville standard juicer that comes with more than 2 control settings.

More about the speed controls: The 5-speed LCD control panel displays fruit icons and speed settings to help you choose the right speed. The speeds range from 6,500 to 12,500 RPM and the LCD panel also offers feedback for adjusting settings. This is the only centrifugal juicer that features such control.

Other qualities:

  • 900-Watt Motor that produces 14,000 RPM
  • Patented stainless steel blade disc surrounded by an Italian micro mesh filter that extracts up to 40% more vitamins and minerals and 30% more juice than other juice machines
  • Pulp Capacity - 3.2 qt
  • Juice Jug Capacity - 1.1 qt

Breville 800JEXL Juice Fountain Elite

The Commercial Grade Super Powered Machine

The Commercial Grade Option - The Breville 800JEXL Juice Fountain

The Breville Juice Fountain Elite is the top-end juicer machine produced by Breville. While this makes for an excellent home juicer, it is super powerful and can be used effectively in juice bars or for other commercial reasons.

Featuring a complete stainless steel finish it is also the most handsome of the bunch.

It has the most powerful 1000 Watt motor, which is 100 watts more than the other Breville juicers. And this 1000 watts produces 18,000 RPMs, which is 4,000 RPMs more than any of the other machines. At this power you could probably put a tree truck in there and it would not stutter - well probably a little, but you get the point!

An additional feature that you get with this machine that the other Breville juicers don't provide is an ultra-sharp titanium blade. This complements the high-speed motor to shred fruits and veggies into juice in seconds.

Do you need this machine for home? This is a good question, and to be honest we would say that you don't need to spend the extra $100 to buy this machine for home use. For $200 you can buy the Breville JE98XL Juice Fountain, and it is going to provide all that you need for an excellent quality home juicer.

However, if you like to make juice 2 or 3 times a day every day, then it is worth considering getting the Breville 800JEXL. Of course, if you want a really good-looking showpiece juicer in your kitchen to impress the neighbors, then the shiny stainless steel of this machine will do that.

Other qualities:

  • 1000-Watt Motor that produces 18,000 RPM
  • Mega sharp titanium reinforced blade disc surrounded by an Italian micro mesh filter that extracts up to 40% more vitamins and minerals and 30% more juice than other juice machines
  • Pulp Capacity - 3.2 qt
  • Juice Jug Capacity - 1.1 gt

Breville 800CPXL The Citrus Press

For Those Who Want Citrus Only

breville 800cpxl citrus juicer

The Breville Citrus Press is probably the best citrus press you can buy for home use, but you won't be able to juice anything else other than citrus fruits.

Its stainless steel design means it is acid resistant and will last you a lifetime. However, it is definitely on the expensive end for a home citrus press at $219.95, but it is that 'lifetime' stainless steel design you are paying for, that and the power-assisted lever that makes it easy to squeeze citrus fruits.

Given the cost of this machine, you would be better advised to get one of the Breville juicing machines showcased above, if you want more diversity in what you can juice. But, if you really love your citrus fruit and that is all you want to juice, then there are some distinct advantages to using the Citrus Press over the other Breville machines:

  • Taste. A citrus press doesn't use the high-speed cutting blade system of the other Breville juicers. This means that very little heat is generated in comparison, and this produces a tastier juicer with less foam and oxidation. You will notice a taste difference in O.J made with a citrus juicer.
  • Nutrition. Heat also kills some nutrients and antioxidants, therefore a citrus juicer generates a richer healthier juice.
  • Easy clean-up. A citrus juicer is much easier to clean up than the numerous parts of an electric juicer.

Duo Function Juicers

If you want the best of both worlds, juice and smoothies, then your going to need an appliance that does both and I have written another article detailing the Breville duo function machines at best juicer blender combo. Enjoy.
